This is a random collection of geeky stuff I have done (mostly) in my free time. It is not at its traditional place in Moscow and is usually located in Cambridge, UK nowdays. In any case, as usual, I sit quietly, do not get in anyone's way and enjoy fixing the petrol burner. The fact that the HQ of the Union's of "poets" and "writers" sometimes burns as a result is not my fault (if you have failed to grok any of that - go grab the book, it is worth it even in the rather lame English translation).
Linux, Network and IT related stuff
I try to maintain the articles in this section reasonably up to date. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail. In any case - most of the stuff in this section is provided on a "your mileage may vary" basis with no warranty whatsoever.
Linux
Using NFS on Linux - how to do it efficiently so you can run hundreds of clients without the need of puppet(s) or muppets.
QoS on Linux in an SME - originally started in 2003 when the LARTC HOWTO qos sections could be understood only by people who already knew the subject matter. It is probably still useful even today.
Running debian on various hardware - everything but the proverbial dead badger. Each article contains caveats if any, and notes on suitability for use in a Linux based media system.
Silencing Network kit - aren't you annoyed by that constant meawing of the Cat under your desk? This describes how to make it shut up (disclaimer, if you get a RSPCA visit that is not my problem).
